Arrival

Day 1
Mustang Rosie arrived today with very little excitement. She's a confident girl in her environment so no one really made much about her arrival. Felix naturally made friends right away and so I let them out together a few hours.
Day 2
April 1
Rosie ate well and seemed content this morning after her first night in a stall in a while. Meeting the others over the wall seemed to work fine and she was out with the herd by the afternoon. She had no trouble with anyone except JB (pony) who thought he could take over and she had words for him!
Teens got on their horses bareback and we took a walk out to get some green grass. Rosie was very polite but had some tension. I let the girls continue up the hill while I turned for home. She wasn't fully happy about that, but stayed with me for the most part.
Taking assessment today by looking at the 4 causes of tension (approach, touch, sound, movement) and I see a bit of all of them. She hasn't learned yet that her nature of flight is not the best answer in our domestic world. She's aware and curious but still skeptical of newness of it all. This is totally to be expected and so everyday as we look at the causes of her tension we hope to see her learning a new way to deal with stimulus.
